Trainings, Workshops and Speaking Engagements

“If you can speak, you can influence. If you can influence, you can change lives.” ~Rob Brown

Upcoming Virtual Workshop:

If you are single and find dating to feel a bit daunting and exhausting, I hear you. What if we took some of the guess work out of it? If you are ready to date intentionally and find long, lasting love using the science of love and relationships, look no further. I am offering a virtual workshop called The Gottman 7 Principles for Singles: Lessons in Love. Learn more here: https://peoplepsych.com/the-gottman-seven-principles-for-singles-workshop/

What was the inspiration for this workshop?

As a couples therapist, I’ve worked with many couples over the years who have been struggling with patterns and heartache that have developed over the course of their relationships. Research shows couples often wait an average of 7 years after problems have emerged to seek out professional help, so these tend to be long-standing patterns by the time they enter therapy.

I thought how incredibly helpful it could be to have a space to work with singles as they are preparing for their next relationship – to have some of the relationship knowledge and skills that research shows is essential to have a happy, healthy, secure, and long-standing relationship, prior to entering their next relationship. This way, those who want to be thoughtful and intentional about who they build their future with can move into the dating process feeling more equipped in navigating dating and relationships.

This workshop will integrate decades of relationship research done by Drs John and Julie Gottman. It’s called The Gottman Seven Principles for Singles: Lessons in Love – and is based on the work from the book: The 7 Principles for Making Marriage Work by Dr. Gottman. However, the workshop is designed for singles rather than those who are already coupled.

The workshop will be taught like a class, comprised of 2-hour sessions, happening 4 consecutive weeks in a row (for a total of 8 hours), where I’ll be sharing information and a chance for those who attend to practice some of the skills that we discuss. The upcoming offering is virtual, and it’s not therapy (it’s an educational workshop) so anyone can attend (you don’t have to live in Illinois). The workshop series will be starting next month in January with an option to register for either Tuesday evenings or Sunday afternoons. I’ll be offering this a few different times throughout the year.

My Background and Experience with Offering Trainings

I have provided trainings and presentations to mental health professionals, companies, teams, students, and community groups through webinars, workshops, conferences, and educational presentations. I have had the opportunity to present to audiences both across the United States and internationally.

I genuinely enjoy connecting with people and creating a sense of engagement within a group setting. I strive to create presentations that are engaging, practical, relatable, and interactive while providing participants with information they can meaningfully apply to their personal and professional lives. In addition to my clinical work, I serve as an Adjunct Professor in Psychology at Roosevelt University and as an Adjunct Instructor in Counselor Education at Northeastern Illinois University.

If you are interested in a training on a specific topic or are seeking a speaker at an upcoming event, I would be happy to discuss how I may be able to support your needs. I look forward to connecting with you.
